Ah, my favorite Church latern in all of Rome: the latern on La Sapienza's San Ivo. And the Church itself is a brillant baroque gem too, no. Thanks for the foto, Em.
From working in an americanized Italian restaurant...my limited recal tells me that a Bellini is a brunchy alcoholic beverage.
Yes, brunchy is a word.
Might I be so bold as to request pictures of people. Not the cheese lady...but the beautiful people. This includes the people we are related to.
Remember...unless someone is drowning in it, a picture of a pond is just not that interesting. So let's translate that to while in Italy, shall we? Unless a young newlywed couple is in the middle of a first slap fight (Italians are passionate)in the right hand third, a picture of an empty courtyard is just not that interesting.
While I agree with Justine about pictures of people being interesting, I am greatly appreciating the scenic photos of Rome.
If you like Baroque architecture, be sure to visit the Chiesa Sant'Ignazio on Via del Caravita (about 5 blocks from the Trevi Fountain). It's a beautiful Baroque church with the most amazing Tromp L'Oeil frescoes on the ceiling (including a spectacular fake dome). Just be sure to view the ceiling from the vantage point of the two brass plaques on the floor in the nave of the church.
Loving the blog. Great way to share your trip with us Stateside folk.
Have a glass of Vin' Santo or Vino di Mandorla for me.
Michael has excellent taste - San Ignazio is my favorite Church inside the centro storico. And, Aloysius Gonzaga is buried there too. When living in Rome, I used to stop by every day and say hello to Luigi; when I visit, I still make it my custom to do so each day. If you get the chance Em, tell Luigi I'll be back soon.
